label dispenser

This dispenser comes from Strapp’s Pharmacy in Harbour Grace NL. It contains rolls of paper labels that the pharmacist would have used for the many products that he sold in bulk. We get a glimpse here of the wide variety of different products that would have been for sale in a pharmacy of the time: everything from cod liver oil to disinfectant to rum.

These labels would have been affixed to the box or bottle that the patron took their purchase home in, and displays the name and address of Strapp’s Pharmacy as the retailer. One interesting detail to note is the spelling of “Harbor Grace” without the U, likely because the label rolls were printed in the United States. What’s your favourite label in this dispenser?
